We are thrilled to announce that Macallan Construction will be restoring the City of Dahlonega’s historic “Head House.”
The "Head House" was built by Homer Head for himself and his wife in the early 1900s. It was constructed from wood salvaged from the original 1841 Baptist Church by Dr. Head. Now owned by the City of Dahlonega, the house could become the new home of the DDA.
Working on historic projects can be a challenge, especially when it's time to match the materials with the existing structure to keep the overall essence of the original design intact. Macallan Construction is proud of the results of these projects, each providing unique elements that made the spaces stunning!
Macallan Construction has had the pleasure of renovating many senior living projects. During a renovation, every detail counts. Each element is crucial in creating a space that draws your attention while also blending cohesively with the design and structure that exists.
Did you know the environment you study in is as important as the way you study?
A study environment where you feel comfortable leads to an increase in concentration and higher productivity.
Here are just a few of the study spaces we have had the pleasure of working on for @GeorgiaState.

- I chose Construction after (4) other majors and had (0) Construction experience growing up. I just felt it was interesting enough to keep my attention.

Macallan Construction had the pleasure of working on Roam Innovative Workspace in Buckhead. This location offers unique spaces that each present a one-of-a-kind environment to gather and collaborate.
This project consisted of the renovation of a 100 year old historic train depot known as “Dooley’s Den at The Depot” on the @EmoryUniversity campus. The restaurant was operating as a deli and now houses a @Kaldi'sCoffeeRoastingCo. branded dining establishment.
This 2,000 SF renovation included a new kitchen layout, addition of front of house coffee shop millwork and equipment, and the general modernization of the interior finishes.
At Macallan Construction, we pride ourselves on creating beautiful spaces while remaining within budget and on time.
It's Feature Friday! Meet Samantha Wilson – Project Engineer for Macallan Construction!
-What’s your construction specialty?
My construction specialty is Project Engineer. I enjoy being out in the field and seeing the project come to life from the plans to real life.
- What attracted you to the construction industry?
Growing up my uncle was a residential general contractor, and I often went with him to job sites. I enjoyed seeing what he did in the field. I always knew that I wanted to follow in his footsteps and be in the construction industry.
- What was the most memorable construction project you’ve ever worked on?
My most memorable construction project is the Augustus Wardlaw Smith renovation project with Harper General Contractors. This project is in my hometown of Spartanburg South Carolina and was originally built in the 1920’s. It has historic meaning to many people that I know in the area. Being a part of the renovation process was very meaningful to me. I wrote an article about the use of laser scanning for this project which was also fun and meaningful to me. - What advice would you give someone who wanted to enter the construction field?
If you enjoy learning and want a challenge, then construction is the right place for you. You will never stop learning and growing in this field. Everyone knows something that you don’t know which means you can learn something from everyone.

I have lived in Japan, been to Australia, South Korea, and the Philippines and my favorite place is Japan. I prefer Japanese food over American food ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
Our Macallan Construction team had a great time clay shooting at Foxhall Resort for their team outing. And they even managed to hit a few clays!
We are excited to have recently completed the renovation to the pergola at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia.
The pergola is situated in the beautiful Ravinia Gardens surrounded by the tranquility of nature. A new roof, fans, heaters, and sunshades were installed to update the pergola for use during all seasons.
