Last week, our team spent two days at Manhattan Construction Group's Atlanta office learning Elevate Construction’s Builder Tactics with Jason Schroeder Through mindset training and a hands-on simulation, we strengthened our ability to plan, execute, and operate as a high-performing team.

McCray House Relocation

170+ years of history, rolled down Cherokee Street and into a new chapter. 🏠️ ➡️ ☕️

Macallan Construction is honored to help the City of Acworth relocate the mid‑1800s McCray House to its new home at the Logan Farm Park entrance, where it will soon be preserved and reborn as Bizarre Coffee’s 4th location.

Grateful to team up with the City of Acworth, Georgia, CROFT Architecture and Engineering and Smith house movers to give this historic home a new life in the heart of the community.

It's Feature Friday! Get to know a little about the newest addition to our team, Gavin!

🏗️ What attracted you to construction?

I was drawn to construction because I like seeing real, physical results from hard work. It’s rewarding to be part of a team that builds something from the ground up and to know that what you worked on will be there for years. My dad worked in construction, so I grew up around the industry and developed an early interest in how projects come together. I also like that construction combines hands-on field work with problem-solving and planning, which keeps the work both challenging and engaging.

🚧 What advice would you want to give someone who wanted to enter the construction field?

I would tell them to be willing to learn, show up early, and work hard. Construction is a field where a great work ethic and a great attitude are imperative. Learn to ask questions, pay attention to details, and always take safety seriously. It’s also important to meet and talk to as many people as you can. You can learn a lot from others’ experiences, and the majority of people in the industry are excited to help the next generation learn; they’re just waiting for you to ask.

A fun fact about me is that I spend a lot of my free time playing basketball or hiking. I like staying active and being outside.

Our February Macallan University session focused on one of the most critical phases of any project, Preconstruction.

We are incredibly grateful to the speakers who shared their time, experience, and insights from every side of the table! @Robert Hogan brought valuable perspective from a GC lens, @Liz Perry Punch delivered thoughtful industry insight, @William Norris spoke from a Developer perspective, and @Brad Jacobs, PE shared expertise from an Owner’s Representative standpoint. We were also fortunate to host a strong panel of trade partners who offered real world insight into the subcontractor side of Preconstruction.
